ABS-CBN mulls charges vs police for arrest of journalists

Charie Villa, head of news-gathering, said ABS-CBN was studying the possibility of filing charges against the police officers who rounded up its personnel.“We'll investigate them the way they investigated us. I heard from some of them that their IDs were pulled violently [and] they were told to lie face down. I think that was uncalled for because they had IDs,” she was quoted by the ABS-CBN website as saying.

And they say that the government is suppressing the freedom of speech! If so, then how come these people can still file charges against the police. In my opinion, I say that there was no overkill and the police did what they're supposed to do. These media outfits, think that just because they are the media, they are above the law. What's happening now is these media people are becoming bullies hiding behind the guise of legitimate journalists. I guess these people were the product of a deranged ideology of broadcasting. That even if they were told to leave the premises but insisted on staying, they become heroes? I say go ahead and file charges so you will know who's doing their jobs and not. ABS-CBN reporters are so arrogant that I think they're doing this just to pull up ratings/viewership that they are losing to GMA Network. Serves them right.

GMANews.TV - Standoff, curfew serve as preview to Martial Law

he arrests and curfew that followed a six-hour standoff in Makati City Thursday has given modern-day Filipinos a "foretaste" of Martial Law, the head of the influential Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said Friday.

"Yesterday and last night, the people hold-in at Peninsula Manila had a 'foretaste' of what Martial Law could be. God save us from the worse!" Lagdameo said in his web log.

In calling for Labayen's release, Lagdameo said the bishop emeritus of Infanta in Quezon has experienced in the hands of the military what the latter did not undergo even in the time of Marcos dictatorship.

"Bishop Labayen is already 81 years old. I am appealing to the military that he be released on account of his age. The advocacy that Bishop Labayen had been doing is for the country to be restored to genuine democracy and justice which is worth fighting for," he said.

Don't you think they're pushing this a bit too far? The government did not start the commotion, it was Mr. Trillanes and Lim who walked out of the court showing utter disregard to the law then marching in the street as if they own it, brandishing their weapons, smashing and forcing themselves into the lobby of a hotel, stopping guests from leaving then ignoring the warrant of arrest being served by the police and asking the President of the country step down.

Where is the order in that? Now, they have the guts to blame the government for it's action? Newton's law says, "...for every action, there's an equal and opposite reaction". It only shows how stupidity has taken over the minds of this country's leaders. Who ever says that a Bishop is exempted from arrest? No wonder there is chaos in the street, because we only want the poor to suffer and the rich to just get a slap on the wrist. What a law! What a mindset! Its about time the government show them who's boss!

And Now they start to talk

Senate president Manuel Villar said the tough measures were similar to the heavy-handed approach of Marcos."This is overkill, especially curfew. It was unnecessary and only reminded us of martial law," he said.

Oh ok, now you talk, and where were you yesterday? Did you every help resolve the situation. It only shows what type of person you are!

We're ready to die here, Magdalo men say

On the eve of the government-imposed "deadline" for their surrender, military sympathizers of Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV and Brigadier Gen. Danilo Lim said Thursday expressed readiness to fight to the very end."No, we won't leave. We're ready to die here," one soldier standing guard at the Manila Peninsula told GMA News. - GMANews.TV

Hopefully you do! I cannot trust my children's faith to someone that took an oath protecting the constitution and the government and yet is now fighting it. You shouldn't have joined the military if you will just question it later. It goes beyond the teaching of the organization.

And these are how they react!

Sen. Mar Roxas on Thursday urged his colleague Sen. Antonio Trillanes to “be calm, and do not bring this to a point where our people’s blood will be shed," adding that “we hear the frustration, the cynicism, the estrangement from the government that is in your voice and in your positions."“Itong pag-walkout ay pagpapakita ng pagka-sawa sa ‘business-as-usual.’

"Roxas joined Sen. Noynoy Aquino, a fellow Liberal Party leader, in issuing a call for the “observance of the rule of law by all sides, not just Trillanes and Lim, but as well as the military and police." The two senators spoke at the Kapihan sa Senado, a few minutes after the trillanes-Lim walkout was staged.“Hindi lamang doon sa mga nagmamartsa sa Makati ngayon, isama na rin natin ang lahat ng nasa gobyerno.

Sana’y di tayo humantong sa panahon ng desperation o frustration, na maaaring sumiklab sa isang bagay na hindi natin magugustuhan," Aquino said.Aquino, meanwhile, noted that Filipinos have started to “vote with their feet" as Overseas Filipino Workers due to loss of hope in their own country. He also recounted a report that some poor Filipinos have already sold their kidneys just to have additional income at the expense of their health.“Masasabi nating marami sa mga tao sa bayan natin ngayon ang frustrated. Sana hindi tayo humantong sa panahong sobrang puno na ang tao at wala nang pag-asa," he stressed. - GMANews.TV

No wonder we keep going back to these kinds of situations is because these people, considering SENATORS are condoning the actions of criminals! They have the guts to criticize the government that they are part of, but they themselves don't know how to respect the rule of law. This is what you gave the Philippines to rule you? STUPID Filipinos! Tsk tsk tsk

Roll Down Your Windows Please

Everyday I pass by a Toll Plaza to and from work. And everyday, I this happen over and over again. Drivers who are paying the toll fee, would open their doors instead of rolling down their windows.

I assumed that drivers find opening their doors and over-stretching their arms easier than rolling down their windows and simply giving the money to the booth collector. I don't think so. Perhaps for the car drivers who's windows are rolled down manually, perhaps yes, but I still see a lot of drivers who's got power windows and still do the same.

Maybe, they just had their windows tinted and afraid to get scratches on the new machine. But didn't they realize that it will wear out more the door hinges and latches? Oh and the effort to unlock the doors, and opening it is much more than simply pushing a button?

The Trinoma Experience

Ever since this mall opened, I was itching to see how it looks like. Well, this was fulfilled last week, saturday. Me and my friends decided to meet up in Trinoma, just for the sake of it. Of course, this would be the most out-of-the-way meet up for me (duh?! I'm from Cavite and Trinoma is at the other end of EDSA). Anyways, if one will think about it, going there is very simple, get to EDSA and drive all straight away until you reach, uhm, SM North EDSA (how ironic isn't it?).

When I got there, of course I don't know where to park, so it became some sort of an adventure race or something for me. Not knowing where to go, I asked the security guards where to park, and of course where to go inside. Funny thing is, I entered, from EDSA the Mindanao Ave., road, and parked at the Mindanao Ave. parking lots. While crossing towards the mall, I noticed that the walkway looks a lot like the ones in Makati. And along the way, I thought I recognized the Mc Donald's in the distance, then I realized it's the one at the corner of Mindanao Ave., SHYET! They made a connecting road from Mindanao Ave., to EDSA! Hehehe pretty nerdy huh?

Inside, the mall looks a lot like Glorietta, down to the center activity area. While the outside dining area looks a lot like Greenbelt's, the same with the topmost Movie Theaters and the Center Garden.

I was liking the place, except for the number of people inside. ANG DAMI! We had dinner and another funny thing is, I had this feeling that an hour will not last that I will not see someone I know. Sure enough, I saw a student of mine. After dinner, we decided to have coffee, and my friend told me that there's a Starbuck's at the center of the roof top garden area. So we went there and when we got out, OH MY GOD! I was transported out from a known Ayala Mall and to LUNETA! SHYET na MALAGKET! JOLOGS!!!!! LOVER'S LANE! And ANG DAMI nila! The center garden has lost it's elegance, SAYANG. Oh and did I mention, ANG DAMING JOLOGS! hahaha smooching and HHWWPSSP nyahahaha.

After seeing the place, yeah it's nice, but then again, that center garden, from what I've read, was supposedly the "centerpiece" of the place lost it. Nyahahaha I might be back to check out the place completely but I'm having second thoughts on enjoying my stay. JOLOGS! Nyahahaha

Unfortunate Events on the Saguisag Tradgedy

First off, I would like to send my deepest condolences to the family of Mrs. Saguisag who died yesterday early morning on a very tragic accident.

Secondly, this event could have been prevented had all parties followed road rules. As this is a traffic incident, it is not unusual for each side to claim innocence. The driver of the Saguisag's of course cannot defend himself at the moment as he is currently unconscious in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) of the Makati Medical Center. That leaves us to the testimony of a taxi driver one car away from the Saguisag's. But I am left wondering, why does the car right behind the Saguisag's not come out to the open yet? I think it's these people that the police investigators has to get their hands on to. You see, it's about 1:30 am and it is in this times that people tend to ignore traffic rules, for the simple reason that, there are no authorities present to apprehend them, tsk tsk tsk.

The truck driver claimed that he was approaching the intersection (normally, if an intersection is coming, a driver should slow down even if the light is still green, just to be sure), when the light turned green, that's when he sped up and caught the Saguisag's Toyota Hiace Grandia. A bystander is now validating the truck driver's claim. I pity the truck driver, not because I am condoning his actions/decisions, had it been my family in the accident, I would have done the same legal steps as the lawyer son of the Saguisag's had done, to file a case against the driver. But in this case, there are different factors that can be of disadvantageous to the truck driver. First, some one died. Second, someone can still die ( as they are still in critical care of the hospital). Third, this people that got hurt are someone that is close to a lot of very influential personalities, such as the arrogant Jejomar Binay and the boastful Estrada clan, who by the way were present at the
Emergency Room of the hospitals the patient were brought to. Even if it is proven that the driver was on the right of way, he would most probably end up in jail as these individuals will definitely influence the investigation.

I will not take a Doctoral degree to see my disgust over Jejomar Binay, well he is sooo damn arrogant! A very good example was when he lectured the truck driver in front of the media on the proper way of driving (this coming from someone who is driven around his city in an SUV with multiple armed escorts driving on the other lane just to get past the dreaded traffic jam of his city, YEAH RIGHT!). And we think that someone is innocent until proven guilty. What he did was he virtually made the driver a criminal without due process. ASSHOLE!
